Video and Discussion   (7/1)
["Prime" with Meryl Streep [PG-13].] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. So we're not doing a "Siskel and Ebert" type of review, but rather an in-depth personal growth process that helps us get to know ourselves and each other better. During the discussion we learn and practice essential communication skills like I-Statements and Open-Ended Questions, so that we can apply them more effectively in the rest of our lives. Each month there's a different general topic for the videos, ranging from Relationships to Overcoming Obstacles to Remarkable People. Come join us! Ages 18 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)
  
Yoga for Healthy and Happy Living   (7/3)
Our body and mind are simply great!!! If we honor them, they give us great results, if not, we face the music. Yoga can teach us how to honor our body and mind. It also helps us lose harmful weight, become more flexible in body and in life, reduce stress, boost the immune system and connect to the world in a compassionate manner. Your first yoga class will begin a process that is bound to reveal new facets of your inner beauty. Presented by Jogendra Bhagat. $40 for 5 weeks or $10 per class. Please RSVP. July 4th Fireworks   (7/4)

Tai Chi/Qigong   (7/6)
Tai Chi is a choreographed set of martial art postures that are designed to increase your power and agility by using your inner energy. Like Qi Gong, Tai Chi helps improve your range of motion and lung capacity, and it places a special emphasis on balance. Practitioners often enjoy reduced stress and a feeling of well-being. If you are interested, some time will also be spent learning simple self-defense techniques. Led by Louis Knox. Ages 12 and up. $36 for 6 weeks or $8 per class (the first class is free). Peace Sunday   (7/9)
In an effort to improve the peaceful conditions in the world, we host a monthly quiet meditation, where all beliefs and religious traditions are honored. Following the meditation, participants are welcome to join in a potluck brunch and share camaraderie and croissants. Ages 14 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Improvisational Art   (7/12)
Regardless of whether you're a novice or an artist in full bloom, you may find yourself overwhelmed by all the possibilities and "the rules," or underwhelmed by a lack of ideas. Painter's Block can stifle your freshest creative impulses, or even cause you to stop creating altogether. In this one night workshop you will experience a technique that will free up your mind and your brush, allowing your fresh inner creator to shine through. Reiki Exchange   (7/18)
Within each one of us there is the capacity to energetically heal the imbalances of the mind, body and spirit. Participate in a group where novices and others can discuss, learn and practice energy healing together. Oceanna leads this experiential practice and support group. If you have read (or are reading) Eckhart Tolle's books and would like to live more fully in presence, come be with others in whom presence is emerging.
