Workshops for
June, 2007

Crafts   (6/1)
We'll be building bead-based earrings, so you can take home a pair or two, specially designed by you, by the end of the evening! Ages 12 and up. $10 for members. Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)

Video and Discussion   (6/2)
["You Can Count On Me" with Laura Linney [R].] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. So we're not doing a "Siskel and Ebert" type of review, but rather an in-depth personal growth process that helps us get to know ourselves and each other better. During the discussion we learn and practice essential communication skills like I-Statements and Open-Ended Questions, so that we can apply them more effectively in the rest of our lives. Each month there's a different general topic for the videos, ranging from Relationships to Overcoming Obstacles to Remarkable People. Come join us! Ages 18 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Tour of Meditation Practices   (6/5)
Hundreds of approaches to relaxation/centering/meditation have been developed over the centuries, and each has its own charm, benefits and wisdom. We explore one new approach each meeting. This lets you work some relaxation into your life while building a repertoire of stress-management techniques for improving your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Ages 12 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Your Ideal Relationship   (6/7)
Most of us spend years searching for satisfying relationships, and the results are often less than we might hope for. We may have overlooked the all-important first step: becoming clear about what we really want. This workshop provides valuable tools for identifying traits we desire in a partner, and suggestions on how to build fulfilling relationships using these newfound insights. Free. (Return to calendar)

Birthday Bash   (6/8)
[Potluck Party for Melissa, Bob and Rebekah.] We celebrate members' birthdays with a delectable potluck followed by birthday cake and games that are perfect triggers for unbridled group creativity! If you enjoy sparkling wit, an easygoing atmosphere and delightful food, don't miss this one! Free for members. Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)

Usual Error: Positivity   (6/9)
This is a lively, entertaining, interactive workshop presented by Kyeli, Pace, and Serafina Smith. We are passionate about communication and we'd love to share what we've learned with you and help you improve your communication skills! In this interactive workshop designed for easy understanding and immediate real-life application, we'll talk about the way our words shape our lives and affect our relationships. We give examples of the ways in which we made positive changes that will be easy for you to apply in your life, if you choose. We'll talk about the harmful effects of teasing, and discuss ways to make communication a more positive experience in general! $20 sliding scale. $15 for members. Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are available for some professionals. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)
