Tour of Meditation Practices   (3/3 from 6:15 - 7 pm)
Hundreds of approaches to relaxation/centering/meditation have been developed over the centuries, and each has its own charm, benefits and wisdom. We explore one new approach each meeting. This lets you work some relaxation into your life while building a repertoire of stress-management techniques for improving your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Ages 12 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Rational Mysticism   (3/5 from 7 - 8:30 pm)
Our human potential is maximized when we close the gap between our knowledge and imagination, and then use both to increase our capacity to sense the oneness of all life in a purpose-driven universe. Explore why your heartbeat and respiration are tuned to the rhythm of the universe. This bi-weekly class explores the concept of a conscious universe that has but one thought: to assist us in its evolution. Presented by Joseph Dubovy. $15 fee. $10 for members. (Return to calendar)

Boastmasters   (3/6 from 7 - 9 pm)
Here's your chance to dust off your old accomplishments, actual or imagined, and really shine! You have probably rarely had a chance to brag about what you've done, so here's it is! Boast your way to happiness and be regaled with applause from your very own peanut gallery! Free for members. Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)

Board Meeting   (3/7 from 1 - 3 pm)
As a nonprofit, the Board of Directors establishes our mission and goals, and develops policies and procedures to help us move effectively in that direction. Our Board meetings are open to the public; feel free to come and share your energy and ideas to help us tap the creativity, love and playfulness of the human spirit. No charge. (Return to calendar)

Video and Discussion   (3/7 from 7 pm - Midnight)
["Hula Girls" with Yasuko Matsuyuki [NR].] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. So we're not doing a "Siskel and Ebert" type of review, but rather an in-depth personal growth process that helps us get to know ourselves and each other better. During the discussion we learn and practice essential communication skills like I-Statements and Open-Ended Questions, so that we can apply them more effectively in the rest of our lives. Each month there's a different general topic for the videos, ranging from Relationships to Overcoming Obstacles to Remarkable People. Come join us! Ages 18 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Peace Sunday   (3/8 from 1 - 3 pm)
In an effort to improve the peaceful conditions in the world, we host a monthly quiet meditation, where all beliefs and religious traditions are honored. Following the meditation, participants are welcome to join in a potluck brunch and share camaraderie and croissants. Ages 14 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Chitchat & Chow   (3/10 from 11:45 am - 1 pm)
[Discussion Topic: Personal Growth at Patsy's Cowgirl Cafe, 5001 E Ben White Blvd.] Tackle a personal growth topic with a lively group of thinkers while savoring a new cuisine at one of Austin's many fascinating restaurants. Topics range from Money to Creativity to Careers to Spiritual Growth. Ages 18 and up. Free (except for cost of meal). (Return to calendar)

Crafts   (3/13 from 7 - 9 pm)
Participants will be building bead-based earrings, so they can take home a pair or two, specially designed by themselves, by the end of the evening! Ages 16 and up. $20 (materials included). $10 for members. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Video and Discussion   (3/14 from 7 pm - Midnight)
["Broken English" with Parker Posey [PG-13].] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. Practice Your Personal Growth Potluck   (3/15 from 1 - 3 pm)
[Springtime Snacking.] After attending all those workshops on communication and personal growth, where do you go to practice the skills you've learned? How about a potluck? Believe me, talking about the best way to barbecue the chicken (or set the table or arrange the centerpiece) is a very different experience here at the Center--where people try to communicate with assertiveness and love--than it is in the not-so-functional families many of us grew up in. The informal atmosphere helps us get to know each other in a candid way and practice our new communication skills on people who are more likely to encourage than to criticize. Free, but don't forget to bring something yummy to share! Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)

Dream Shop   (3/18 from 7 - 9 pm)
Dreams are an untapped source of self-discovery, and most of us don't realize we create hundreds of intriguing images in our dreams every night. In this workshop, you'll use those images to start resolving emotional conflicts in your life. As a result, you'll leave feeling clearer, more self-confident and more empowered. Presented by Robert McGarey, M.A. Ages 18 and up. $20 fee. $10 for members. Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are available for some professionals. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Your Ideal Relationship   (3/20 from 7 - 9 pm)
Most of us spend years searching for satisfying relationships, and the results are often less than we might hope for. We may have overlooked the all-important first step: becoming clear about what we really want. This workshop provides valuable tools for identifying traits we desire in a partner, and suggestions on how to build fulfilling relationships using these newfound insights. Free. (Return to calendar)

Permaculture, Chickens & Yoga   (3/26 from 7 - 9:30 pm)
[This month's video: The Real Dirt on Farmer John] In this wide-ranging, free-wheeling movie/discussion group, we'll tackle a different topic each month. Using a fascinating or controversial video as a springboard, we explore the challenges it presents and learn how to change the world! Feel free to bring friends and an open mind. Free.
