Building Your Self-Esteem   (11/1)
How we feel about ourselves impacts every part of our lives: our romantic relationships, our career, our finances, our family life. It determines our satisfaction with life and our psychological health and resiliency. This four-week workshop teaches you how to cope with difficult situations, enjoy your life and improve your relationships through boosting your self-confidence and building sound self-esteem. Presented by Robert McGarey, M.A. $120 fee. $95 for members. Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are available for some professionals. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Advanced Relationship Skills   (11/3)
Most schools don't offer any classes on how to create happy, lasting, satisfying relationships. That's ironic, because most of us spend a huge amount of our time and energy trying to do exactly that. This workshop helps you discover and practice powerful communication tools that transform difficult relationships and painful arguments into loving, mutually-supportive teamwork. Presented by Robert McGarey, M.A. $95 fee. $70 for members. Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are available for some professionals. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Video and Discussion   (11/3)
["The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" with Jessica Alba [PG].] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. So we're not doing a "Siskel and Ebert" type of review, but rather an in-depth personal growth process that helps us get to know ourselves and each other better. During the discussion we learn and practice essential communication skills like I-Statements and Open-Ended Questions, so that we can apply them more effectively in the rest of our lives. Each month there's a different general topic for the videos, ranging from Relationships to Overcoming Obstacles to Remarkable People. Come join us! Ages 18 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Board Meeting   (11/4)
As a nonprofit, the Board of Directors establishes our mission and goals, and develops policies and procedures to help us move effectively in that direction. Our Board meetings are open to the public; feel free to come and share your energy and ideas to help us tap the creativity, love and playfulness of the human spirit. No charge. (Return to calendar)

Don't Stress Out!   (11/5)
In this 24/7 technological culture, most of us live at breakneck speed and never stray far from society's unrelenting, stress-filled drumbeat. Latham, LPC, helps you select the stress-management methods and tools that fit your individual needs, values and lifestyle, and begin reclaiming the joy in living that is your birthright. $95 fee. $80 for members. Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are available for some professionals. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Tour of Meditation Practices   (11/6)
Hundreds of approaches to relaxation/centering/meditation have been developed over the centuries, and each has its own charm, benefits and wisdom. We explore one new approach each meeting. This lets you work some relaxation into your life while building a repertoire of stress-management techniques for improving your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Ages 12 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Gratitude and thankfulness are essential components of a happy and fulfilling life, according to many personal-growth authors and a number of scientific studies. Fortunately, our nation has set aside one day a year specifically for the purpose of giving thanks. We'll indulge in the traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and it's a potluck so you can add your own special touch to the meal. Let's make this a special time to remember all we've been blessed with, and to share those feelings with each other. No charge for members. Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)
