Tour of Meditation Practices   (10/1)
Hundreds of approaches to relaxation/centering/meditation have been developed over the centuries, and each has its own charm, benefits and wisdom. We explore one new approach each meeting. Video and Discussion   (10/5)
["Bandits" with Bruce Wiilis.] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. So we're not doing a "Siskel and Ebert" type of review, but rather an in-depth personal growth process that helps us get to know ourselves and each other better. During the discussion we learn and practice essential communication skills like I-Statements and Open-Ended Questions, so that we can apply them more effectively in the rest of our lives. Each month there's a different general topic for the videos, ranging from Relationships to Overcoming Obstacles to Remarkable People. Come join us! Free.

Healthy Minds In Healthy Bodies   (10/7)
Wellness is a whole-person thing. In order to stay really healthy, we have to keep our bodies, minds, emotions and spirit all in great shape. So why not get together weekly and support each other in that quest? The leadership of the group rotates each week, and each meeting includes time for members to discuss and share their health goals and progress. In addition, the leader for that week may also decide to give a presentation on something that has excited them or been important to their health and healing. $10 monthly. (MEMBERS ONLY.)

Chitchat & Chow   (10/8)
[Discussion Topic: Spiritual Growth at Taco XPress, 2529 S. Lamar.] Tackle a personal growth topic with a lively group of thinkers while savoring a new cuisine at one of Austin's many fascinating restaurants. Topics range from Money to Creativity to Careers to Spiritual Growth. Free (except for cost of meal).

Wild Goose Qigong   (10/8)
Qigong (sometimes spelled "Chi Kung") is a type of exercise developed in ancient China. It combines physical and mental techniques to increase and circulate one's "Qi" or internal energy. Wild Goose Qigong is a style of Qigong using the flowing and graceful movements of geese. Practitioners of Wild Goose Qigong often enjoy improved health and well-being, including improved balance, increased range of motion, reduced mental stress and a feeling of rejuvenation. Led by Louis Knox. $10 fee. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Life Is Not Fair, And Why That Is Good For You   (10/9)

Invite your dreams into the rest of your life in a safe, friendly, supportive environment for talking about and exploring dream experiences. Healing, Hypnosis and Prayer   (10/12)
Healing, hypnosis and prayer are powerful and transformative practices that, used properly, can enhance our quality of life. They are able to transform us because they all spring from deep connections: connections with ourselves, with others and with the divine. By understanding these connections, we can overcome the fears, emotional resistance and misunderstandings that are often triggered when we start to connect. With those roadblocks out of the way, we can remove many of the barriers that have kept us separate and begin improving and deepening these vital connections that nourish and sustain us throughout our lives. By Jim Bentley, Ph.D. $80 fee. $50 for Annual and Premium members. Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are available for some professionals. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Video and Discussion   (10/12)
["Deja Vu" with Stephen Dillane.] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. Practice Your Personal Growth Potluck   (10/13)
[Orange & Black Food.] After attending all those workshops on communication and personal growth, where do you go to practice the skills you've learned? How about a potluck? Believe me, talking about the best way to barbecue the chicken (or set the table or arrange the centerpiece) is a very different experience here at the Center--where people try to communicate with assertiveness and love--than it is in the not-so-functional families many of us grew up in. The informal atmosphere helps us get to know each other in a candid way and practice our new communication skills on people who are more likely to encourage than to criticize. Free, but don't forget to bring something yummy to share! Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)

Healthy Minds In Healthy Bodies   (10/14)

Feldenkrais Movement For Life   (10/16)
Many of us don't run, ski and dance (or even stand up from a chair) with as much ease and gracefulness as we would like. Yet these are the movements of everyday life, and they need not be difficult. The Feldenkrais Method can show us how to move in ways that are natural for us. Through learning to notice our own physical sensations, we become more comfortable, relaxed and graceful. In the process, we may also begin to pay more attention to our emotional sensations and personal experiences. This can enable us to start resolving emotional traumas held in our bodies, and begin identifying our own needs in order to build better relationships. Presented by Elaine Dove, an authorized Awareness Through Movement teacher. $80 for six-week series. $15 per week. $60 for Annual and Premium members. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Guided Imagery & Music   (10/17)
Music can lead you on an inner journey into your own consciousness. In the powerful process of Guided Imagery & Music, appropriately-selected musical compositions take you wherever you need to go for personal growth and fullfillment. At the end of the musical journey, you'll have the chance to share your experiences with the group. Afterwards, you'll create a visual image to help you better enjoy and remember the insights you received during your voyage. Led by Amy Blair, a Fellow of the Association of Music and Imagery. $20 fee. $10 for Annual and Premium members. Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are available for some professionals. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Alternative Lifestyles For The 21st Century   (10/18)
[Discussion Topic: Nudism.] Not everyone has the same values and lifestyle as we do. That's a good thing, because we can often learn something important from people who see the world in a very different way. So every three months or so, we bring in someone who is able to explain to us a lifestyle that might seem a bit unusualor maybe even weird! We'll be covering a variety of novel topics, ranging from polyamory to permaculture to nudism to political activism. The more we know about uncommon options that are available to us, the more easily we can choose lifestyles that genuinely match our values, personality and goals in life. And besides that, it's fascinating! So come join us in this exploration of the unexpected. Free. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Recovering from your Religious Past   (10/19)
Some people feel that organized religion has robbed them of their sense of personal freedom and left them with an overwhelming feeling of guilt and shame. In this workshop, you will be able to reclaim your personal power, recharge your spirit, and achieve a peaceful resolution to the inner conflict many people have around religion. Presented by Pamela P. Latham, LPC. $30 fee. $20 for Annual and Premium members. Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are available for some professionals. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)
