Tour of Meditation Practices   (9/2 from 6:15 - 7 pm)
Hundreds of approaches to relaxation/centering/meditation have been developed over the centuries, and each has its own charm, benefits and wisdom. We explore one new approach each meeting. This lets you work some relaxation into your life while building a repertoire of stress-management techniques for improving your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Ages 12 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Board Meeting   (9/6 from 1 - 3 pm)
As a nonprofit, the Board of Directors establishes our mission and goals, and develops policies and procedures to help us move effectively in that direction. Our Board meetings are open to the public; feel free to come and share your energy and ideas to help us tap the creativity, love and playfulness of the human spirit. No charge. (Return to calendar)

Shabby Chic Cleanup   (9/6 from 3 - 6 pm)
Come tickle your creative sensibilities by helping us spruce up the interior of the Center, to make it feel more inviting and exciting to spend time in! You can help create the kind of comfortable, professional ambience that encourages people to learn more about themselves and each other. We're aiming to create a "shabby chic" atmosphere in three steps: Sort, Organize and then Decorate. Coordinated by Leslie Harvey. Free. Please RSVP. (Return to calendar)

Video and Discussion   (9/6 from 7 pm - Midnight)
["Penelope" with Christina Ricci [PG].] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. So we're not doing a "Siskel and Ebert" type of review, but rather an in-depth personal growth process that helps us get to know ourselves and each other better. During the discussion we learn and practice essential communication skills like I-Statements and Open-Ended Questions, so that we can apply them more effectively in the rest of our lives. Each month there's a different general topic for the videos, ranging from Relationships to Overcoming Obstacles to Remarkable People. Come join us! Ages 18 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Chitchat & Chow   (9/9 from 11:45 am - 1 pm)
[Discussion Topic: Personal Growth at Sunflower, 8557 Research Blvd., #146.] Tackle a personal growth topic with a lively group of thinkers while savoring a new cuisine at one of Austin's many fascinating restaurants. Topics range from Money to Creativity to Careers to Spiritual Growth. Ages 18 and up. Free (except for cost of meal). (Return to calendar)

Your Ideal Relationship   (9/12 from 7 - 9 pm)
Most of us spend years searching for satisfying relationships, and the results are often less than we might hope for. We may have overlooked the all-important first step: becoming clear about what we really want. This workshop provides valuable tools for identifying traits we desire in a partner, and suggestions on how to build fulfilling relationships using these newfound insights. Free. (Return to calendar)

Peace Sunday   (9/14 from 1 - 3 pm)
In an effort to improve the peaceful conditions in the world, we host a monthly quiet meditation, where all beliefs and religious traditions are honored. Following the meditation, participants are welcome to join in a potluck brunch and share camaraderie and croissants. Ages 14 and up. Free. (Return to calendar)

Practice Your Personal Growth Potluck   (9/21 from 1 - 3 pm)
[One last summer splurge!] After attending all those workshops on communication and personal growth, where do you go to practice the skills you've learned? How about a potluck? Believe me, talking about the best way to barbecue the chicken (or set the table or arrange the centerpiece) is a very different experience here at the Center--where people try to communicate with assertiveness and love--than it is in the not-so-functional families many of us grew up in. The informal atmosphere helps us get to know each other in a candid way and practice our new communication skills on people who are more likely to encourage than to criticize. Free, but don't forget to bring something yummy to share! Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)

Can Your Inner Child Come Out To Play?   (9/25 from 7 - 9 pm)
The mission of the Center is to Tap the Creativity, Love and Playfulness of the Human Spirit, so we take play very seriously. It rejuvenates our spirits, broadens our minds, and strengthens our bodies. Invite your inner child out for some fun as we play the games we used to play, or maybe never had a chance to play. Let yourself loose and let your creativity run wild! Free for members. Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)

Permaculture, Chickens & Yoga   (9/26 from 7 - 9:30 pm)
[This month's video: The Natural History of the Chicken] In this wide-ranging, free-wheeling movie/discussion group, we'll tackle a different topic each month. Using a fascinating or controversial video as a springboard, we explore the challenges it presents and learn how to change the world! Feel free to bring friends and an open mind. Free. (Return to calendar)

Christmas Crafts   (9/28 from 3 - 5:30 pm)
What better time to use your creativity than when you're preparing for Christmas? Bring those projects you've been wanting to finish and we'll work on them together. Then you can give those you love presents handcrafted specifically for them, and save money at the same time! Ages 12 and up. Free for members. Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)

Enneagram: A Sufi Approach to Personality   (9/29 from 7 - 9 pm)
The Enneagram is a personality test with an amazing history, starting with the Sufi tradition in the Middle East. Presented by Kathyrn Ehlert, Ed.D. $10 fee. $5 for members. (Return to calendar)

Boast your way to happiness and be regaled with applause from your very own peanut gallery! Free for members. Please RSVP. (MEMBERS ONLY.) (Return to calendar)
